Williard Emmanuel Tan

Willard Tan is a specialist and expert in multiple disciplines such as:

- Strategic management
- Leadership
- Sustainable development
- Curriculum and assessment
- Education pedagogy
- Food and beverage operations management

A distinguished and astute academician to the core, Willard has been an adjunct faculty at various Universities and Institutes of Higher Education and has taught hospitality and tourism operations management.  As a part of his academic duties, he has supervised various MBA dissertations and Honours Projects. He has keenly followed academic research areas such as in teaching and learning pedagogy, learner behaviours, consumer behaviours, segmentation studies, and contemporary food and beverage issues.

He has extensive experience as a wine consultant and has conducted many public masterclasses in leading F&B trade events, and has taught in various government schools.

Willard is a recipient of the prestigious Excellence Award from Singapore Hotel Association – Asia Pacific Breweries, Meritorious Awards for 2010 and 2012 and a Valedictorian for the graduating class of 2010. He is also a Professional Member of the College of Teachers, UK, a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) from the Society of Wine Educators (USA), Certified Bartender (CB) from the Bartenders Association Internationale (USA), Certified Service Professional (CSP) from the Workforce Development Agency (Singapore). Willard has also completed the Advanced (Level 3) in Wine & Spirits from the Wine & Spirit Educational Trust (WSET, UK), Introductory Sommelier Examination from the Court of Master Sommeliers (USA).

 

With more than a decade of experience in the hospitality, food and beverage industries, Willard currently serves as Managing Director and Business Analyst with W Training and Consulting. Besides sharing his acclaimed academic expertise he is responsible for conducting curriculum review and audits, strategic gap analysis for enterprises. He also specialising in optimising business processes.

Willard simultaneously works as an Adjunct Lecturer and Dissertation Supervisor for various international universities, and was recently appointed as Director of the Academic and Examination Board from various international institutes of higher learning. He is both ACTA, SDALT certified and has also earned the Cambridge Diploma for Teachers and Trainers (CIDTT) from the University of Cambridge, UK.

He has recently been awarded the Certified HR Professional in Talent Management.

Among numerous other related positions, Willard has also worked as the Programme Leader, Module Leader and Validation expert with the Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh; Cardiff Metropolitan University, Wales; and Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH), United Kingdom in specialism of hospitality and tourism management, enterprise creation, strategic management, and leadership. Willard is also an accredited wine sommelier and bartender.

Willard is currently pursuing Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. He has earned both a Master of Business Administration (with Distinction) from Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality & Tourism Management (with Distinction). In addition, he was also the Valedictorian for the graduating class of 2010.

With the legendary on-the-job training and experience from Singapore Airlines in 2009, Chan knows how to look after every need of his customers. Having climbed the ladder of promotions at SIA quickly, Chan made a reputation for himself as someone who thrives on excellent communications and service delivery.

With a Bachelors of Arts in International Hospitality & Tourism Management, he specialised in hospitality operations, airlines services, Electronics, Electrical and F1 engineering, outdoor adventure, and nutrition-related practices.

In leisure, Chan volunteers with Sunlove Home projects. He provides tuition for the needy kids. Besides, he spearheads many educational excursions to various parts of Malaysia and Singapore.
